Enviros is a world leader in Leachate Management
Leachate is the contaminated water run-off from landfills, and compost plants.
With over 60 leachate treatment plants in operation and more than twenty, alternative (low technology) leachate management solutions in operation, such as reed beds, recirculation schemes, and land treatment systems in place, we are regularly asked to speak at international conferences and seminars.
Landfill leachate has the potential to cause substantial damaging impacts to watercourses, and groundwater in the vicinity of landfills, ultimately impacting negatively on water supplies, unless leachate management is planned throughout the life of a landfill.
Enviros employs a wide range of techniques and technologies in leachate management, such as:-
- recirculation
- land irrigation (although such methods are currently being discontinued in most EU countries in favour of higher cost but more scientifically controlled methods)
- sequencing batch reactor (SBR) biological leachate treatment plants
- reed beds, and engineered artificial wetlands.
Visit our leachate web site, for more information or complete our form here, and we will provide you with further information.

We are already active in leachate treatment in Asia. We have designed two leachate treatment plants in Malaysia, which are now at different stages of design and construction, with the design of a third plant commencing very soon.
We also, for example, designed and commissioned NENT leachate treatment plant in Hong Kong in the mid-1990s, which continues to operate successfully.
A more recent plant working in a hot climate is the Bukit Tagar Leachate Treatment Plant designed by Enviros, and process commissioned by Enviros. (Right)
